Wellness Goals

The Falmouth Public School system is committed to providing a school environment that promotes and protects children’s health, well-being, and ability to learn by supporting healthy eating and physical activity.

All students in the Falmouth Public Schools shall strive to possess the knowledge and skills necessary to make nutritious food choices and appropriate physical activity choices for a lifetime.

While engaged with students, all staff in the Falmouth Public Schools will be encouraged to model healthful eating and physical activity as a valuable part of daily life.

To meet these goals, the Falmouth Public Schools adopts this school wellness policy, which includes the following components:

  • Commitment to nutrition
  • Commitment to physical activity
  • Commitment to comprehensive health education
  • Commitment to marketing a healthy school environment
  • Commitment to implementation

This policy is designed to effectively utilize school and community resources and to equitably serve the needs and interests of all students, parents, and staff, taking into consideration differences in cultural preferences.

To achieve these goals, the Falmouth Public Schools will create a Health Advisory Committee to advise planning, implement, monitor, review, and, as needed, propose revisions to school nutrition and physical activity policies. The Health Advisory Committee consists of a group of individuals representing the school and community including: parents, students, teachers, food service professionals, health professionals, and other interested community members.
